Land for rent in Portugal for off grid homestead or eco community

Are you looking for land for rent in Portugal for an off grid homestead or small eco community?

We have 9 hectares of natural land for rent in Central Portugal (in the area of Penamacor) that are very suitable for building an off grid homestead or for starting a small eco community.

The land consists of two plots. One is 5 hectares of open land (see picture above) with a small lake in the middle that holds water throughout the year. Great for swimming in summer and watering the plants and trees. There are 70 adult olive trees and we planted a variety of 50 other trees like citrus, apple, pear, almond, chestnut, fig, cherry and more.

The second plot is about 3 hectares of overgrown forest with very old cork trees and some olive trees. It also has about 1 hectare of flat surface that is very suitable for growing vegetables and herbs.

There are no buildings on the land so you can stay on the land in a camper, caravan, tiny house or yurt. Or you can apply for a building permit.

We used to stay on the land in a tent or camper van. For electricity we used solar panels.

We plan to rent out the land because we can only be there for 4-6 weeks per year and that is not enough to really develop the land.
